  • Pregnancy Massage FAQ

    1. What is pregnancy massage?
Pregnancy massage is a safe, gentle massage tailored to the physical and emotional changes of pregnancy. It is great for a variety of reasons from back ache to promoting labour and avoiding induction.

    2. Is pregnancy massage safe?
As a registered independent midwife, I adapt techniques for safety in every trimester and consider any medical conditions or complications.

    3. When can I start pregnancy massage?
Massage is typically safe from the first trimester and can continue with ongoing adjustments as pregnancy progresses.

    4. How can aromatherapy be used in pregnancy massage?
I blend a bespoke aromatherapy mix for your unique needs. This ensures the safety of you and your baby: some typical aromatherapy oils are contraindicated in pregnancy.

    5. What is biomechanics for birth?
I use gentle positioning, movement, and body mechanics to relieve tension and discomfort while keeping both mother and baby safe. I also teach you techniques to use yourself to optimise the chances of a balanced body and easeful pregnancy and birth.

    6. How long is a pregnancy massage session?
A typical midwife pregnancy massage appointment is around 90-120 mins. This ensures plenty of time for an in depth holistic midwife consultation and a full body massage (or massage of your choice.

    7. Can pregnancy massage help with specific pregnancy issues?
Pregnancy massage can help with back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel, anxiety, sleep difficulties, swelling, and general tension relief. It is also part of my package to help support your body to go into labour naturally and avoid induction.

    8. What should I expect during my first session?
Your first session lasts 90-120 minutes and includes a full midwifery consultation, discussion of medical history, bespoke treatment plan, massage, aromatherapy, and post-session guidance.

    9. How often should I have pregnancy massage?
There are no set rules about this- if massage is part of your typical self-care or just san occassional pamper, it can be beneficial

    10. What locations is massage available in?
I offer midwife provided pregnancy massage across Cornwall, in your own home and arrive with all the equipment including a massage couch and towels. It is useful if you have a warm space where we will not be disturbed. Some clients like to play their birth playlist (others prefer silence or a chat… all good with me!).

  • An initial consultation for new clients costs £150 for 90-120mins.

Subsequent bookings can be booked in a package of 3 massages to be used in pregnancy or up to six months after birth for £325. The treatments are interchangeable (you may wish to explore my other holistic therapies).
